A local plumber for Kingsgrove, next door to our Earlwood base

Kingsgrove is our neighbour. It sits beside Earlwood and Bardwell Park, with Kingsgrove Road through the middle, the station on the East Hills line and the industrial area beside the M5. It is not a suburb we travel to; it is one we drive through most days. Part of our St George service area.

Call 1300 111 007. Open 7am to 6pm, seven days.

Post-War Brick

Post-war brick homes and what is under them

Kingsgrove was largely built out after the Second World War: street after street of solid brick homes on generous blocks. Seven decades on, the original plumbing is the weak point.

Original copper and galvanised water pipe

Post-war homes were plumbed in galvanised steel or early copper. Galvanised rusts shut from the inside, so pressure drops and water runs brown. Early copper develops pinhole leaks under slabs and inside walls, which is when a water bill jumps or a patch of floor stays warm. We find the leak and replace pipe in sections or repipe the house. Burst and leaking pipes →

Earthenware sewers under mature gardens

Kingsgrove's established trees are the reason drains block. Roots grow into the joints of the original clay sewers; the result is a gurgling toilet or an overflowing backyard gully. We clear roots with a high-pressure jet blaster, CCTV the line so you see the cause, and reline cracked sections without digging up the lawn. Blocked drains →

Hot water systems past their time

Most Kingsgrove homes have an outdoor storage unit against a side or back wall, and many are past the end of their life. We repair where it makes sense, and replace with gas, electric or heat pump options when it does not. Hot water systems →

Renovations and extensions

Kingsgrove homes are being renovated and extended one street at a time. We plumb new bathrooms, kitchens and laundries, relocate drainage and water points and handle the compliance paperwork, with your builder or directly with you. Renovation plumbing →

Next door, not across the city. Kingsgrove shares a boundary with our Earlwood base, so it is not a suburb we travel to, it is one we drive through most days. Plumber Earlwood →

Houses, Farms and a Concrete Creek

Kingsgrove's family houses, its old market-garden ground and the concrete creek that runs through it

Mostly houses, mostly owned. At the 2021 Census, about 82 per cent of Kingsgrove's homes were separate houses and about 41 per cent were owned outright. That means a lot of single-owner drains running under lawns, driveways and established trees, where one cracked length can go unnoticed for years.

A late suburb. The land was cut into farms in 1841, and the suburb mostly boomed after the railway station opened in 1931 and the Depression and the war eased. Houses of that era often still have earthenware or cast iron drains and galvanised water pipe. We camera the line first and reline a failed length from inside wherever the footage allows.

Wolli Creek in a concrete channel. Through Kingsgrove, Wolli Creek is a concrete lined open channel about 1.2 kilometres long between Kingsgrove Road and Bexley Road, and Sydney Water flood records show the channel overtopping in August 1986. The catchment is moderately steep, so storm water arrives fast. After heavy rain, check the pit and the stormwater line before you blame the sewer. We camera both.

Tree rules vary by street. Kingsgrove sits across three council areas, so the rules on tree work depend on which side of the line you live. Check yours before anyone cuts, and we show you where roots are entering the pipe first.

Property Managers

Rentals in Kingsgrove

Kingsgrove is mostly houses, but plenty are leased through local agencies. We work with property managers on routine and urgent repairs, deal with tenants directly and send a photo report with the invoice.

Shops And Industry

Kingsgrove Road shops and the industrial area near the M5

Kingsgrove's industrial precinct beside the M5 is warehouses, workshops and small factories, where a plumbing failure stops work. Up the road, the shops and cafes along Kingsgrove Road rely on hot water, gas and clear drains. We service both for blocked drains, hot water, gas fitting, compliance certificates and leaking pipes, attending before the day starts, after it finishes or around trading hours.

Questions

Kingsgrove plumber FAQs

Is there a fee just to get a plumber out here?

No call-out fee in business hours. After-hours, weekend and emergency call-outs carry a call-out fee, always quoted upfront before we dispatch a plumber. Nothing about that changes because you are in one of the unit blocks near the station: the figure is agreed on the phone, before a plumber is sent.

Who is turning up, and are they qualified?

A licensed plumber, or an apprentice working under one. We hold NSW plumbing licence 311287C and full insurance, and those details go on the paperwork. Whether it is a Sans Souci house near the Georges River or a Carlton semi behind the shops, the same licensing applies to every job we take on.

Are you local to Kingsgrove?

Our base is Earlwood, so Kingsgrove is a short drive for us, and we are in the St George area most days of the week. Tell us your street when you call and we give you the real travel time, not a guess.

Do you attend emergencies in Kingsgrove after hours?

Yes, every night from 6pm to 7am: the on-call plumber answers 1300 111 007, quotes the after-hours call-out fee before we dispatch, and we aim to be on site within 60 minutes for emergencies in the Inner West, St George and the Shire.

What does a plumber in Kingsgrove cost?

General plumbing from $242 inc GST, confirmed on site, with an upfront fixed price before any work starts. No call-out fee in business hours. The online quote tool gives you a guide price for the common jobs in about a minute.

The yard floods when it rains hard near Wolli Creek. Is that our drain?

It can be, but check the pits and the stormwater line first, because the creek channel and the street drains carry a lot of water quickly in this catchment. We camera the stormwater line and the sewer line separately, so you know which one is choked, cracked or full of roots. If the problem is the council's or Sydney Water's channel or street drain rather than your pipes, we tell you that and who to call.

Our Kingsgrove house was built in the 1950s or 60s. What is likely under the ground?

Often earthenware or cast iron drains and galvanised water pipe, depending on the street and on any repairs since. We camera the line, show you the footage and tell you in writing what has failed and what is still sound, so you only pay to fix what needs fixing.

Can roots in an older Kingsgrove drain be fixed without removing the tree?

Often, yes. We camera the line, show you where roots are getting in, and reline that length from inside the pipe so the joint is sealed. Kingsgrove is split across three council areas with different tree rules, so check with yours before any cutting.
