Gas Leak Or Gas Smell
- Get everyone out of the building. Outside, away from the gas source.
- Do not flick any switches. Not lights, not appliances, not anything.
- No flames, no matches, no candles.
- If safe to do so, turn the gas off at the meter.
- Call us from outside on 1300 111 007.
- If the smell is strong or anyone feels ill, also call 000.
Burst Pipe Or Flooding
- Turn the water off at the mains. Usually near the meter at the front of the property. Tap clockwise until it stops.
- Switch the main power off at the meter box if water is near power points, fittings or appliances.
- Move rugs, electronics and important paperwork out of the way.
- If you can find the burst point, place buckets and towels to contain the water.
- Call us on 1300 111 007. Stay on the line if it helps.
Ceiling Or Wall Leak
- Put buckets and towels under the leak immediately.
- If the ceiling is bulging with water, pierce a small hole at the lowest point with a screwdriver. Sounds scary, stops the whole ceiling collapsing.
- Move furniture and valuables away from the affected area.
- Turn off the water at the mains if you can find the source.
- Do not touch any light fittings or switches near the leak.

Overflowing Toilet
- Stop flushing immediately. One more flush makes it worse.
- Lift the cistern lid and push the flapper down to stop water entering the bowl.
- Turn off the isolation valve behind the toilet (the small tap on the wall).
- Towels and buckets around the base.
- Don't use other toilets, showers or washing machines until we arrive (could be a bigger sewer issue).

Sewer Back-Up
- Stop using all plumbing fixtures. No toilets, sinks, showers, washing machines or dishwashers.
- If sewage is coming out of a drain or toilet, keep everyone out of that area. Open windows for ventilation.
- Do not flush or run any water anywhere in the property. It makes the back-up worse.
- Move pets, kids and valuables to a different part of the home.

Hot Water Emergency
- If water is leaking from the tank, turn off the water inlet to the unit (the cold water tap above it).
- Turn off the power at the breaker for electric units, or turn off the gas at the meter for gas units.
- If the system has a temperature relief valve releasing steaming water, step back. Don't touch it.
- If you smell gas near the unit, treat it like a gas leak (see above).
