Because it never stops. A dripping tap and a refilling cistern run constantly, and you pay for every drop.
The bill is only part of it. A slow weep from a tap tail soaks the chipboard base of a vanity before anyone sees water. In a unit, water past the pan collar reaches the apartment below. Then there is the noise: a cistern that hisses and refills at 3am. And a flexible hose that lets go does not drip, it floods.
For everyday jobs around the house, see our general plumbing page.
Most leaking taps can be repaired, and that is where we start. Reconditioning means new washers, seats, O-rings, spindles and jumper valves, plus re-cutting the worn seat so the new washer can seal.
Mixer taps have no washers inside. A single cartridge controls flow and temperature, so a dripping or stiff mixer usually needs a new cartridge, the cheaper repair where the part is still made.
Replacement is better value when the tap body is corroded, the chrome is pitting, or parts have run out. It is also when people choose to update the room, and we can quote that too.
You can supply your own tapware or we can supply it: send a photo before you buy and we will tell you if it suits your pressure and set-out.
A toilet that never stops running is leaking inside the cistern, not onto the floor. What we repair:
A running toilet wastes a large volume of water every day, quietly, so the bill is often the first sign. Where a suite is cracked or out of parts, we replace it.
Isolate, diagnose, quote, fix, test, and leave it clean. We shut the water off, find what is actually leaking rather than replacing parts on a guess, and give you the fixed price first.
Then we do the work, turn the water back on, test under pressure and run the fixture through a full cycle before clearing up. Most reconditions and cartridge swaps take well under an hour, so several taps usually get done in one visit. Anything else we find, a corroded flexible hose or a seized valve, we show you and quote separately.
Older housing stock needs a different approach, and so do units. In Federation and interwar homes we work on heritage tapware, breeches and wall-mounted sets built into the wall, which can often be reconditioned rather than pulled out, saving tiles you cannot match.
In apartments the isolation point may sit outside your unit, and work on common pipework can need strata approval. We deal with committees and building managers.
No call-out fee in business hours. After-hours, weekend and emergency call-outs carry a call-out fee, always quoted upfront before we dispatch a plumber.
Leaking tap and toilet repairs start from $218 inc GST. Every price here is a guide, confirmed on site before any work starts. What we quote is what you pay. No surprise bills.
Upfront fixed price before any work starts. You only pay for the work we do. Several taps in one visit cost less than separate call-outs, so tell us everything that leaks.
If water is running and you cannot stop it, turn it off at the meter and call 1300 111 007. Our emergency plumbers are available after hours across Sydney. The calls that will not wait: a burst flexible hose under a vanity, a sheared-off tap, water through the floor into the unit below.
We do routine maintenance rounds, so a building's worth of leaking taps gets done in one visit instead of ten. Tenants get one number to call, and you get photos and a written record for the file.

Questions
Leaking taps and toilets from $218 inc GST, confirmed on site. If you have more than one job for us in the same visit, it is $110 off each extra job in the same visit. No call-out fee in business hours.
Usually because the seat the washer closes onto is worn or scored, so a new washer cannot seal. We re-cut or replace the seat as part of reconditioning, and check the tap body for cracks.
Where the cartridge is still made, we replace the cartridge. Where it is not, a new mixer is the honest answer. We tell you which before any work starts, and we price both.
Put a few drops of food colouring in the cistern and wait half an hour without flushing. If colour appears in the pan, the outlet valve seal is leaking. A hiss between flushes points to the inlet valve instead.
Usually a worn inlet valve or outlet washer in the cistern. It wastes a surprising amount of water and it is a one-visit fix; our vans carry the common cistern parts.
Yes. Plenty of customers buy their own tapware or toilet suite and we install it. Check it is WELS rated and suits your water pressure and set-out, or send us a photo before you buy and we will check it fits.
Yes. We can supply a new suite or install one you have bought, remove the old one, and give you a fixed price for the whole job before we start.
