Pink Plumbing is based in Earlwood, and Leichhardt is a short drive north for us through Marrickville and Petersham. We have worked here since we started, from the cottages off Marion Street to the restaurants on Norton Street. Leichhardt is part of our Inner West service area.
Call 1300 111 007. Open 7am to 6pm, seven days.
Behind similar federation facades you will find homes left alone for a century, homes renovated in the 1980s and 1990s, and homes gutted and rebuilt recently. Each calls for a different approach.
Leichhardt still has plenty of single-fronted worker's cottages and federation semis that have never been replumbed. Their plumbing is honest but old: earthenware sewer pipes with open joints, galvanised water lines rusting from the inside, a backyard hot water unit that has outlived two owners. The symptoms are low pressure, brown water and a drain that blocks every winter when tree roots go looking for moisture. We camera the sewer before touching anything, so you know whether it is a clear-out or a reline. See our blocked drains page →
A lot of Leichhardt homes were extended in the decades when the suburb's Italian families were adding second storeys and rear kitchens. The result is often three generations of plumbing spliced together: galvanised at the front, copper from the first renovation, plastic from the last. The joints between those materials are where leaks start, usually inside a wall. We find the source with acoustic and thermal leak detection before we open anything, so the repair is one small hole rather than a demolished bathroom.
Along Parramatta Road and near the light rail stops there are newer townhouses and apartment blocks. Their problems are different again: flexible hoses failing under sinks, hot water units in cramped cupboards, and strata drainage that needs a clear report to a committee. We do all of it, with photos. Strata plumbing →
Nineteenth century streets, renovated inside. Leichhardt became its own municipality in 1871 and its streets are full of Victorian and Federation terraces and cottages. Many have been renovated more than once, so a bathroom can be new while the drain under it is a century old. We camera the line first and show you the footage before anything is dug.
Norton Street food and shops. The restaurants, cafes and delis around Norton Street, many with a history in the Italian community that settled here after the war, put heavy use on old drains. Grease and worn joints are common causes of blockages, and we look for the cause rather than just clearing it.
Narrow lots and rear access. Terrace blocks here are tight, with lanes and side passages instead of driveways. Tell us how we get to the back when you book and we plan the equipment to suit.
Extensions over old lines. Rear extensions often sit over original sewer and stormwater runs. If a floor is being poured or a slab laid, we can locate the line first so it is not built over blind.
Burst pipe, sewer backing up into the shower, no hot water, a gas smell: ring 1300 111 007, after hours too. After-hours, weekend and emergency call-outs carry a call-out fee, always quoted upfront before we dispatch a plumber.
Upfront fixed price before any work starts. You only pay for the work we do, with no call-out fee in business hours and interest-free Payright options on larger jobs.
Leichhardt has a strong owner-occupier base, so a lot of our work here is planned rather than urgent. If you are renovating a kitchen or bathroom in a federation home, talk to us early. Where the old sewer and water lines run decides what the layout can be, and finding out after the tiler has started is expensive. We rough in, connect fixtures and flag problems before you commit.
Norton Street, Marion Street and the strip around Leichhardt MarketPlace run on commercial kitchens. Blocked grease lines, gas connections and compliance certificates, hot water for a busy kitchen: we schedule around service and treat a drain backing up on a Friday night as the emergency it is.
On the western side of Leichhardt the streets fall away toward Hawthorne Canal and stormwater drains work hard in heavy rain. If your yard or garage floods, the cause is often a line choked with silt or roots. We jet blast and camera stormwater lines the same way we do sewers.

Very prompt response to my initial web contact. The plumber arrived in the arranged time and the service was extremely professional and friendly. Cleaned up after the work finished.

No call-out fee in business hours. After-hours, weekend and emergency call-outs carry a call-out fee, always quoted upfront before we dispatch a plumber. The policy reads the same whether you are in a Petersham terrace or an Ashfield flat, and you hear the number on the phone before anyone gets in the van.
Yes. NSW plumbing licence 311287C, fully insured, and every job is done or supervised by a licensed plumber. That matters in Inner West terraces, where half the work happens in a cramped subfloor or a narrow side passage and the shortcuts nobody can see are the ones that leak two winters later.
Our base is Earlwood, a short run along the Inner West, and we work around Leichhardt and its neighbours most weeks. Give us your street when you call and we tell you the real travel time.
Yes, nights from 6pm to 7am, the on-call plumber answers 1300 111 007, quotes the after-hours call-out fee before we dispatch, and we aim to arrive within 60 minutes for emergencies in the Inner West.

In an old terrace it is usually a mix of cracked or offset clay joints, roots and grease. We camera the line, show you the footage, and quote the fixes in writing: clearing, a patch repair, or relining. You choose.
Yes, it is the cheapest time to do it. Before tiles and slabs go down we camera the drain and water lines, tell you what is sound and what is not, and put any repair in writing so the renovation does not hide a problem.
Yes. Most terrace jobs here are done through side passages, rear lanes or a yard access point. We protect floors and paths on the way through and plan the equipment before we arrive.
