Arncliffe sits on the Princes Highway with the station on the Illawarra line, Wolli Creek next door and the Cooks River along its edge. It mixes old cottages, new towers and working industrial pockets in a small area. Part of our St George service area.
Call 1300 111 007. Open 7am to 6pm, seven days.
Arncliffe runs from workers' cottages and interwar brick through to apartment buildings finished in the last few years, with light industrial toward the river.
Old cottages on old sewers. The original Arncliffe housing was connected with earthenware pipe, and after this long the joints have opened and roots are in them. We camera the line, jet it clear and reline the broken section instead of trenching a small yard. More on blocked drains.
New buildings, new defects. The apartment developments near the station throw up the faults new buildings do: flexi hose failures, cistern faults, poorly fallen wastes and defects that surface once the builder has moved on. We document what we find so it can be put to the right party.
Trade waste in the industrial pockets. Workshops and small factories toward the river run on trade waste, gas and hot water, with compliance to keep up. We work around operating hours rather than shutting the place down. See commercial plumbing.
Low ground near the river. Streets closer to the Cooks River sit low. Stormwater lines that are blocked or undersized hold water rather than move it, and it shows up as damp against the building. We trace the line properly.
A mix of houses and flats. At the 2021 Census, about 40 per cent of Arncliffe's homes were separate houses and about 48 per cent were flats, with roughly 40 per cent rented. Older blocks and houses often share drains and stack lines, so a blockage in one place can show up in another.
A railway suburb. The station opened in 1884 and the subdivisions followed, so Victorian cottages, Federation shops along Firth Street and later infill sit side by side. Homes from those eras often still have earthenware or cast iron drains and galvanised water pipe. We camera the line first and reline a failed length from inside wherever the footage allows.
A famous old sewer. The Western Outfall Main Sewer at Valda Avenue, built in the 1890s, is one of Sydney's earliest main sewers, and a sewage farm once operated in Arncliffe. The big trunk lines belong to Sydney Water, so if your camera footage shows a fault beyond your boundary, we tell you who to call.
Low ground near the river. Land near Barton Park and the golf links was swamp that was reclaimed, and groundwater sits under two metres in many places around the Cooks River flats. Wet ground moves pipes and finds weak joints. After heavy rain, check the pit and the stormwater line before you blame the sewer. We camera both.
A large share of Arncliffe is tenanted, and much of the new stock is strata. We arrange access with tenants, keep the manager informed, and say whether a fault sits in the lot or on common property before a repair is approved. See real estate plumbing and strata plumbing.

Questions
No call-out fee in business hours. After-hours, weekend and emergency call-outs carry a call-out fee, always quoted upfront before we dispatch a plumber.
Yes. Trade waste, gas and hot water work for the industrial units is scheduled Monday to Friday and planned around trading where we can, so the business keeps running. The after-hours call-out fee is quoted upfront before we dispatch.
Our base is Earlwood, so Arncliffe is a short drive for us, and we work around the St George and Inner West areas most days. Tell us your street when you call and we give you the real travel time, not a guess.
Yes, every night from 6pm to 7am: the on-call plumber answers 1300 111 007, quotes the after-hours call-out fee before we dispatch, and we aim to be on site within 60 minutes for emergencies in the Inner West, St George and the Shire.
General plumbing from $242 inc GST, confirmed on site, with an upfront fixed price before any work starts. No call-out fee in business hours. The online quote tool gives you a guide price for the common jobs in about a minute.
It depends where the blockage sits. A choke inside your own unit is yours; a shared stack or main line usually belongs to the owners corporation, so your strata manager should be told before work is booked. We camera the line, show you where the fault is, and give you a written note you can pass to the strata manager.
Often earthenware or cast iron drains and galvanised water pipe, depending on the street and on any repairs since. We camera the line, show you the footage and tell you in writing what has failed and what is still sound, so you only pay to fix what needs fixing.
Often, yes. We camera the line, show you where roots are getting in, and reline that length from inside the pipe so the joint is sealed. Bayside Council requires a permit for most tree work, so check with the council before any cutting.
