What Bondi buildings are made of, and what goes wrong
Bondi is a suburb of flats. The art deco and interwar blocks behind Campbell Parade were built long before modern plumbing standards, and plenty still run their original risers. Newer apartments and renovated semis sit between them, and all of it lives in salt air.
Ageing galvanised pipe. In the older blocks, galvanised steel rusts from the inside out.
